Welcome to the first issue of KidsAndMentalHealth.com published on Substack.
I know, I know… it’s been a minute. Per usual, I’ve been tending to my copywriting biz, my very busy teenagers, hanging out with my partner, serving on two Boards, getting back on the ol’ bike, substitute teaching at a daycare, and co-editing thePause (also on Substack!). Phew.
Sending out hugs, high fives, and good wishes to all of you mothers (and people who identify as mothers) for Mother’s Day. What are your plans? Something traditional perhaps (hence the pancake reference) or maybe you’re doing something totally different (a good friend is running a 5K tomorrow!)?
And, if you’re male, non-binery, do not have children, and/or don’t live in Canada or the U.S., I celebrate you too.
Eco-Anxiety Advice
Here’s a recent article I wrote on eco-anxiety — a term you may not be familiar with. Basically, it was coined to explain children’s growing worry about the climate crisis. Sad that this is a thing but there’s no sense in hiding our heads in the sand.
No-Money May
Here’s an oldie but goodie I wrote three years ago this month regarding savings and teaching children the value of money.
Mother’s Day Musings
And, for good measure, here’s a Mother’s Day article I created in 2019 about Mother’s Day being fraught with expectations.
However you celebrate (or chose not to), I wish you a Mother’s Day filled with peace of mind & sunshine.
