Hello, Philosophical Parents.
As the holidays approach, I’m sending you warm hugs and good vibes. These good vibes can be used in whatever fashion you’d like:
Perhaps you’ve been laid off recently and don’t know how you’ll pay for holiday gifts
Perhaps you’re fighting with a sibling or parent or cousin and are dreading Christmas Eve dinner, a family trip to the Mosque or that Boxing Day get-together
Perhaps you are divorced or your children are grown and you’ll be spending the holidays alone
Perhaps you don’t have extended family and feel guilty that your kids aren’t going to experience a “Hallmark movie” holiday
Perhaps you are trying to drum up excitement but your ‘tweens or teens are apathetic and it hurts your feelings
Whatever it may be (and hopefully it’s none of those things but, hey, let’s be realistic!), I am offering you a pat on the back and an extra big hug because parents often carry a heavy load. As such, I’m giving you permission to do the following:
Give yourself a break. ☕
Learn to say no. 🙅♀️
Let the guilt go. 😊
Do what you can, when you can. ❄️
Share your feelings with your family. 👪
Sleep in and rest when you can. 🛌
Until next time, Philosophical Parent — stay real & relaxed.
